The Little Mermaid is a beautifully designed tragic fable that reminds a great deal of HBO’s Carnivale.

Set in a carnival sideshow during the early 20th century, a cruel showman keeps a mermaid prisoner in a bathtub for the amusement of others. Ignoring her pleas for release she has to result to maritime means as a way to escape.
