In the words of three of my favorite philosophers of all time, the Beastie Boys: "I'm rocking' this party eight days a week."
I’m not going to, nor have I ever been to Brooklyn, but regardless of location, I am running on very little sleep these days.
If you happen to have read last week's blog then you know that you cannot have a bachelor party without a wedding…well you can, but it would be kind of sad. Anyway, this weekend saw me taking up my service as best man, delivering speeches and making sure everyone was having a great time. It would appear that five years of theatre training hasn't gone to waste after all. It was a wonderful ceremony and I had the opportunity to spend some time with some very old and dear friends, as well as meet new ones. It was wonderful. Congratulations to Alyssa and Nick, you guys are great!
However, all of this activity, as wonderful as it is, has left me a tad off my game of late. My wife and I are still living amongst boxes and piles in our new house. This is a place that, for the moment feels like a space shuttle. I eat and sleep there (when I can), but I don't really live there. I get up every morning, perform my daily ablutions before returning to my slumber/dining pod and hope that I'm not murdered by sentient A.I. or aliens. Well it's not like that exactly, but at this stage it's difficult to tell the difference. Regardless, I've been doing my best to keep up with the animating, writing, my day job and social relationships and so far I’m succeeding. However, I know that sleep deprived insanity already has a foothold. I may have to get back on energy drinks, but I’m afraid of what they will do to my insides*.
Recently I had the pleasure to see the finished video I helped write for Cinevore and Stage 5, and it‘s pretty awesome. If you’re at all a fan of the Resident Evil games, I’m confident you’ll enjoy the video. The short also stars two hilarious and talented performers, one of whom (Shelby Dawn) can be seen in the Cinevore series Nerd vs.Geek. I’ll be sure to let you all know when it’s released.
On the subject of Nerd vs. Geek, they just released their season (hopefully not series) finale of the series to coincide with the wedding of the wonderful and kind Stephanie Yuhas and Matt Conant. Congratulations you two! The final episode is great and if you’ve been watching the series, it provides a fitting season finale while laying the ground work for future episodes. I hope they get distribution, because I love these characters and really want to see where they go from here.
Hope everyone has a great week.
*This is sounding like a Cronenberg film more and more, isn’t it?
