More animal than man

As I type this, I'm on the last leg of making the VCoT Frankenstein episode. It should be complete around 10 PM tonight. This may be the most elaborate episode I've made since "A Singularity of Mind" and that is something that is both thrilling and frustrating to me. I have a difficult time finding the balance between dialogue and spectacle (or what I do that can pass for spectacle). A lot of what I put together visually isn't noticed by the viewer, so sometimes I wonder why I bother. It's usually for the sake of story that I create elaborate contraptions or monsters. However, sometimes I wonder how much I can get away with. In any event, I feel like Victorian Cut-out Theatre has a nice mix of episodes that cater to both dialogue and spectacle, some episodes are more dialogue heavy than others, like the next two I'll be working on. Occasionally it just works out that way.

This weekend was a great deal of fun and consequently I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but you can never complete much during a holiday. I did, however, get to play two full games of Elder Sign with my sister and brother. They're hooked on the game, and I couldn't be more thrilled. It's one of my favorites. I also saw Monsters University, which was delightful and I ate a great deal of delicious food. All in all, it was a fantastic weekend, which is good because this upcoming week is going to be a nightmare.

We begin moving to our new residence on Friday, and all I can see at this point is time and money flying away from me. I know things will equalize soon, but right now I feel like I'm fresh out of college again-poor and packed up. We're renting a truck for the first time ever and I'm hoping we can do this all in one move. This also means that whatever business I need to do on the internet will be completed through my day job and my mobile, this is probably a good thing. I have plenty of "off internet stuff" to get done and sometimes the web is too brilliant a distraction.

I'll keep updating the blog and working away with the very few spare moments that I have, but by the end of this month I may be more animal than man; doing my best to hold it together in front of party guests and those in public. Hopefully I'll revert back to the entity you all recognize in early August, when everything has finally calmed down. As a victory dance, I look forward to touring the Colorado Renaissance Festival with my family. With a beer in one hand, grilled steak in the other, my eyes on the crowd and not a care in the world. Here's to August everyone!

Now if you'll excuse me, it has been three days since my last run from the undead, and if I fall off the horse, I won't be able to maintain the slightly-less-doughy physique that I've grown accustomed to.

Take care,

-Rob

[EDIT: I was just informed that we have an important engagement the final weekend of the Ren Fest. I will instead schedule something after. Maybe I'll lock myself in with the computer for an all day text based adventure campaign. ZORK FOREVER!
