It's been a month and a half of packing, cleaning and waiting, but we're finally moved into our new house! I'm thrilled. We have a bit more breathing room and storage and we'll finally be able to host a party or two without it getting too cramped. Now we just have probably another month and half of cleaning, unpacking and…well you get the picture.
I finished the VCoT Frankenstein episode this past Thursday. I had to cut this one down substantially. One goal I've set for myself is that I want all of the VCoT episodes to be under four minutes. There are a few in season one that are just far too long. Brevity is the soul of wit, I'm told and one of the main pillars of this show is wit…well I try for wit, let's say that. There are a few jokes that got cut, and the ending was changed slightly, so I've been thinking about doing a special "black and white, Universal Monsters-style extended cut". This is something that might just be self indulgence on my part, but I hope you guys would appreciate something like that. What do you think?
A lot happened this weekend and while some of the stress of my scheduling marathon has relented a bit, I still have a great deal to do. In any event, here are a few things that I am excited about:
1) My wife finally got the job she's been after. After almost two months of living on one income, we can both breathe a little easier now. I won't lie to you, I'm glad I encouraged her to wait and seek out a job she really wanted, but all that waiting was starting to give me chest pains. She works at a library now, which is a job she's wanted for a while/is perfect for. She's also the biggest proponent of books I've ever met.
2) We have enough room in our new place that I can finally display my "Silent Movie Monsters" action figures. I have the whole original set: Nosferatu and Caligari! When they are placed, I can assure you, pictures will follow.
3) As soon as we organize the kitchen, my wife and I can begin to prepare meals again. Not that I mind three days of fast food for almost every meal, but I think it's time to move on. I look forward to poached eggs and toast for breakfast this upcoming week.
4) Getting back to work. It's been kind of cool not worrying about writing or animating for the past three days. Rather letting my body lift, bend and stretch in the throws of manual labor, but I'm ready to be creative and make stuff again.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting my life back in some sort of order in the coming weeks. Wish me luck.
