Intermission - Halloween Horror Trailers 2013
Since I can no longer Trick or Treat without raising eyebrows, I've had to develop new Halloween traditions. I used to look forward all year to AMC's Monsterfest programming and to my recollection, the year 2000 may have been the last year when they aired classic films along with documentaries about the horror genre. However, we live in a new age and while I mourn the loss of Monsterfest, I can now create my own holiday programming. Two years ago, in preparation for a horror movie night, I compiled a playlist of horror movie trailers (20 minutes worth) to be played before the main attraction, Michael Dougherty’s Trick r Treat. After screening the collection of trailers, my sister said that next year she wanted an hour of curated horror trailers in lieu of a film screening. Last year, I managed to top myself, screening about an hour of trailers and horror themed cartoons. I took the job very seriously, planning the placement of each trailer like I would songs on a mix tape. The private screening was a success prompting me to plan another group of trailers for this year. However, if you want to see last year’s set list to do a screening of your own, the YouTube Playlist is available HERE I have no idea how I’m going to top myself for this year.
